Melania Trump mediates local humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky, Ukraine

US First Lady Melania Trump mediated a local ceasefire between Russian and Ukrainian forces in Oleshky to evacuate elderly residents trapped near the frontlines.
The White House announced a temporary local ceasefire between Ukrainian and Russian forces in the town of Oleshky, located in Ukraine's southern Kherson region. US First Lady Melania Trump initiated and mediated the agreement, serving as the primary liaison between Moscow and Kyiv to enable the humanitarian evacuation of trapped elderly residents.
Russian military officials confirmed that the temporary truce would take effect on October 27 to facilitate civilian rescue operations. Residents in the occupied frontline settlement had reportedly faced severe shortages of food and supplies after becoming trapped between opposing forces along the Dnipro River since the early stages of the conflict.
