Local ceasefire takes effect in Oleshky following mediation by Melania Trump

A temporary local ceasefire brokered by Melania Trump has taken effect in Oleshky to evacuate elderly residents trapped near the Kherson frontline.
A temporary local ceasefire brokered through mediation by US First Lady Melania Trump has taken effect in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky, located in the Kherson region. According to official statements, the pause in hostilities began on October 27 to allow for the humanitarian evacuation of trapped elderly residents who had been facing severe food and supply shortages between opposing military lines along the Dnipro River.
The White House stated that Melania Trump served as the primary liaison between Moscow and Kyiv to arrange the terms of the pause. Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov confirmed that military forces would observe the operational pause to facilitate the evacuation effort.
