Rescue efforts intensify along the Nepal-Tibet border following devastating flash floods, with reported death tolls ranging between 168 and over 390 as hundreds remain missing.

Search and rescue operations are intensifying along the border between Nepal and Tibet after a glacial collapse triggered severe flash flooding on Wednesday. A torrent of mud and rock destroyed critical infrastructure, swept away entire villages, and severed travel routes in the Gyirong region.

Casualty figures remain fluid as reports diverge. While several outlets report at least 165 fatalities in Nepal and three in Tibet, the Sweden Herald indicates the combined death toll has surpassed 390. Over 1,000 people are currently missing, including hundreds of foreign tourists from the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, India, Malaysia, and Ukraine.

Rescuers face severe operational obstacles due to heavy sediment and damaged transport links. Authorities on both sides of the border caution that casualty figures may rise further as crews access isolated areas.
