Military leaders at the Sarajevo Security Conference addressed drone threats while Bosnia announced two new defense factories to boost production.

Security leaders and defense experts gathered in Sarajevo for the fourth Sarajevo Security Conference to address evolving European airspace and maritime challenges. EUROCONTROL official Major General Karsten Stoye cited low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles as the primary airspace security threat over the coming five years. Concurrently, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten highlighted how artificial intelligence and uncrewed surface vessels are reshaping naval strategy and maritime surveillance against emerging threats.

Alongside the conference, Bosnian officials at the "First Balkan Shield 2026" exhibition announced plans to establish two new defense manufacturing plants in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Authorities stated that domestic military output has doubled over the past three years, aiming to bolster national defense and expand presence in global export markets.
