Defense experts at the Sarajevo Security Conference warned of low-altitude drone risks, while Bosnia announced two new military manufacturing plants.

Defense experts, NATO commanders, and international delegates gathered in Sarajevo for the fourth Sarajevo Security Conference to evaluate European airspace and maritime challenges. Major General Karsten Stoye of EUROCONTROL warned that low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles represent the primary emerging threat to European airspace over the next five years. Meanwhile, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten emphasized the growing necessity of integrating artificial intelligence and uncrewed vessels into naval defense strategy.

Concurrently, officials from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced a further expansion of domestic defense manufacturing following the "First Balkan Shield 2026" military equipment exhibition. Authorities confirmed plans to construct two new manufacturing plants to strengthen national defense readiness and increase international defense exports.
