The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference addressed drone threats and airspace security as Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to open two new military production facilities.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference convened over 140 defense experts, military commanders, and diplomats to evaluate European defense challenges. Key discussions centered on uncrewed systems and artificial intelligence. EUROCONTROL Major General Karsten Stoye identified low-altitude uncrewed aerial vehicles as the primary new challenge to European airspace security over the next five years. NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten similarly emphasized the strategic integration of uncrewed vessels and artificial intelligence to counter maritime threats and track shadow fleets.

Concurrently, officials at the "First Balkan Shield 2026" exhibition announced that the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will establish two new defense manufacturing plants. Authorities noted that domestic military output has doubled over the past three years, aiming to bolster national security and expand export opportunities on the international market.
