The Sarajevo Security Conference and defense fair highlighted rising aerial drone threats, maritime security shifts, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's expanding military industry.

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference brought together international military officials, diplomats, and defense experts to address emerging European security threats. Key discussions focused on technological shifts in modern warfare, with EUROCONTROL Major General Karsten Stoye identifying low-altitude uncrewed aerial systems as the primary airspace challenge over the coming five years. NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten similarly highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence and uncrewed surface vessels to counter maritime risks, including shadow fleets.

Concurrently, officials from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans at the "First Balkan Shield 2026" defense fair to build two new manufacturing facilities. Authorities reported that domestic military production has doubled over the past three years, aiming to boost national defense capabilities and expand international market exports.
