Military experts at the Sarajevo Security Conference warned of emerging drone risks, while Bosnia and Herzegovina announced plans to open two new defense manufacturing facilities.

Sarajevo hosted the fourth Sarajevo Security Conference, assembling over 300 defense experts, diplomats, and military figures to address European security challenges. During the event, EUROCONTROL Major General Karsten Stoye identified low-altitude drones as the premier threat to European airspace safety over the coming five years. Concurrently, NATO Rear Admiral Van Zanten called for integrating artificial intelligence and uncrewed vessels into naval operations, stating that "the future belongs to drones."

In parallel, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina leadership announced an expansion of domestic arms manufacturing following the First Balkan Shield 2026 defense exhibition. Officials noted that national defense production has doubled across the last three years and confirmed plans to construct two new manufacturing facilities to support territorial defense and expand international military exports.
