Berlin Pride attack suspect killed by police following vehicle ramming
One person was killed and 16 injured in a van attack at Berlin's Pride parade before police shot dead suspect Abdul Ballout.
German authorities have confirmed that one woman died and 16 people were injured when a white van drove into a crowd during the Christopher Street Day parade near Berlin's Tiergarten park on Saturday night.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that initial evidence indicates an "Islamist attack." Following an intensive manhunt involving federal and local police, officers located the suspect, identified as 21-year-old German citizen Abdul Ballout, in Berlin's Spandau district.
Ballout was shot and killed after charging at officers with a knife. Law enforcement agencies are continuing a joint investigation into his background and potential extremist connections to determine a motive.
