Spanish and Turkish authorities are investigating a series of transport disasters, including a train crash in Toledo that killed 64 people and multiple road collisions.

Authorities in Spain and Turkey continue to investigate a series of fatal transport accidents that occurred across both countries.

In central Spain, a high-speed train collision near Los Yebenes in Toledo province killed 64 people after two carriages derailed and rolled down an embankment on the Madrid-Seville line.

Meanwhile, Turkish emergency services responded to several major road crashes. A head-on collision between two cars in Ankara’s Polatlı district resulted in three fatalities and left four people injured. In Isparta’s Keçiborlu district, a minibus carrying seasonal agricultural workers struck a freight truck from behind, injuring 17 passengers. A separate collision between heavy transport vehicles left one person dead and three others injured.

Inquiries into the causes of the collisions remain underway by local transport authorities.
