US charges five alleged Russian agents over global plots targeting Ukraine allies
US federal prosecutors have charged five alleged Russian intelligence operatives over plots targeting supporters of Ukraine across Europe and North America.
United States federal authorities have unsealed charges against five alleged Russian intelligence operatives accused of orchestrating targeted assassinations and covert sabotage operations against allies of Ukraine across Europe and North America.
According to an indictment in Manhattan federal court, the network recruited and attempted to pay individuals globally to conduct surveillance and execute attacks, including a June 2024 strike in Prague. American officials stated the group targeted people "aligned, or perceived to be aligned, with Ukraine." All five suspects currently remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service stated that Russian operatives executed sabotage attacks against Danish defense firms supplying military hardware to Kyiv, characterizing the acts as an escalation in hybrid warfare.
