Ukrainian strikes hit Russian defense sites amid fierce frontline clashes

Ukrainian drone and missile strikes targeted critical Russian defense infrastructure while intense combat continued along the eastern front, with over 250 engagements reported in 24 hours. Satellite imagery confirmed damage to the Progress Rocket Space Centre and the nearby Aviakor aviation repair plant in Samara following an attack on August 15. Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishev acknowledged a "massive rocket attack" on local industrial facilities. Further strikes were reported across the Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, and Rostov regions near the Savasleyka airfield.

On the ground, Ukraine's General Staff reported heavy Russian assault activity in the Lyman and Kostyantynivka sectors. Meanwhile, Russian forces expanded their control south of Dobropillia and made progress toward bisecting Ukrainian positions along the Oskil River near Kupyansk.
