Ukraine targets Russian energy sites as civilian casualties rise

Ukrainian long-range drones struck Russian export facilities while Russian attacks caused civilian casualties across Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia, according to officials.
Ukrainian forces executed long-range drone strikes against Russian energy and export infrastructure, targeting a terminal in Rostov Oblast roughly 250 kilometers from the front line, alongside facilities in Yaroslavl and Udmurtia. Russian officials concurrently claimed air defenses downed 12 Ukrainian drones near Moscow, triggering brief operational suspensions at regional airports.
In Ukraine, Russian bombardments intensified across several regions. Local authorities in Dnipropetrovsk reported more than 50 drone and artillery attacks that left three people dead and six injured. In Zaporizhzhia, a drone strike hit a commercial facility, injuring four individuals, including two children.
Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, UN official Kayoko Gotoh highlighted a steep surge in Ukrainian civilian casualties during July caused by systematic Russian attacks on residential areas and infrastructure, noting at least 56 civilian deaths in Kyiv alone.
