Russian barrage kills eight across Ukraine as energy grid sustains severe damage

A massive Russian missile and drone attack killed at least eight people, disrupted power in five Ukrainian regions, and allegedly involved a North Korean ballistic missile.
A large-scale Russian barrage combining missiles and drones across Ukraine has left at least eight people dead and more than 50 injured, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi. The attack hit residential buildings and critical national infrastructure across several regions.
Grid operator Ukrenergo reported power disruptions in five oblasts, noting that energy facilities in Sumy Oblast sustained the most severe damage. Air defense units were activated in western Ukraine to intercept cruise missiles targeting Lviv, where multiple explosions were reported.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that preliminary evidence points to the use of a North Korean ballistic missile in a strike on Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih. Forensic examinations are ongoing to confirm the munition's origins.
