Russian strikes hit multiple Ukrainian cities as internal political pressure builds in Kyiv over election demands and a vote on a new defense minister.

Russian forces launched widespread missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, targeting regions including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Chernihiv. An attack on an ammunition facility near Kyiv triggered secondary explosions near residential areas, resulting in dozens of casualties. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the storage of explosives close to homes, promising accountability for officials involved and pledging a retaliatory military response. In response, Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow, where several were intercepted.

Concurrently, political pressure intensified in Kyiv following anti-corruption raids against figures linked to the presidency. Dismissed minister Mykhailo Fedorov publicly demanded new national elections, asserting that "democracy cannot be hostage to Russia." Against this backdrop of military escalation and internal political friction, parliament prepared to vote on confirming Yevhenii Khmara as Ukraine's new defense minister.
