EU warns of retaliation after Leipzig drone plot as strikes intensify in Ukraine

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned against hostile acts in the EU, as Russian strikes targeted Kyiv and Ukraine struck Russian energy sites.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen declared that the European Union will not tolerate hostile acts on member state territory, warning of potential retaliatory measures after German authorities identified two suspects linked to Moscow in connection with explosive drones in Leipzig.
The warning coincided with Russian drone strikes targeting Kyiv that injured a civilian, following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address to the United Nations General Assembly. Simultaneously, Russia's defence ministry announced an intensified campaign aimed at Ukrainian energy infrastructure, while Ukrainian forces expanded retaliatory air strikes against Russian refineries and petroleum facilities.
