Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter

US President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to reach a negotiated settlement to end the war in Ukraine, following a telephone call between the two leaders. Trump urged both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to finalize an agreement before the winter season, emphasizing that both parties must commit to peace talks.

Following his meeting with Trump, Zelensky described the dialogue as "positive and productive," expressing confidence that hostilities could conclude in the coming months. Both Washington and Kyiv reiterated their shared objective of halting Russian aggression and ending the war before winter sets in. However, neither side has publicly outlined a detailed framework or specific parameters for potential negotiations.
