Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach agreement before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the conflict in Ukraine prior to winter. Speaking after a phone call with Putin and a face-to-face meeting with Zelensky, Trump expressed confidence that the Russian leader seeks an agreement, adding that progress depends on both nations committing to negotiations.

Zelensky characterized his discussions with Trump as positive, noting a shared desire between Washington and Kyiv to conclude the conflict in the coming months. Ukrainian officials expressed hope that hostilities could cease shortly, with diplomatic efforts concentrating on potential steps to halt Russian aggression before seasonal conditions deteriorate.
