Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains severely disrupted six months into the blockade as Washington and Tehran set conflicting conditions for reopening.

Six months after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, maritime traffic through the strategic energy corridor remains reduced to roughly 15 daily transits compared to 95 prior to the crisis. United States President Donald Trump claimed mediated talks are progressing and indicated a deal could emerge soon, warning Tehran would be hit "very strongly" if the waterway is not reopened promptly. Iranian officials maintained the strait will stay closed until Washington meets key demands, including lifting oil sanctions, unfreezing national assets, and ending military operations. Although Tehran confirmed a technical agreement with Oman to establish a safe transit route, Iranian military commanders rejected American pressure and threatened "strategic surprises" for the US.
