Russian missile strikes hit Ukraine and crash in Poland as Kyiv seeks Patriot deal

Russian strikes killed at least eight people in Ukraine as a cruise missile crossed into Poland, while President Zelensky pressed Washington for Patriot missile production licenses.
Russia launched widespread missile strikes across Ukraine, killing at least eight people and injuring 50 nationwide, according to Ukrainian authorities. Kyiv suffered severe damage, with local officials confirming four deaths and 15 injuries after residential and commercial buildings were struck. During the assault, a Russian cruise missile entered Polish airspace, flying roughly 100 kilometers over six minutes before impacting in an open field.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Washington to grant manufacturing licenses for Patriot air defense missiles inside Ukraine, though U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to approve the request. Zelensky also accused Moscow of continuing to deploy North Korean weaponry.
In Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described an overnight explosion outside a restaurant as a "terrorist act." Concurrently, Russian authorities issued an arrest warrant for the daughter of slain opposition politician Boris Nemtsov.
