Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv kill nine, including four children

At least nine people were killed and nearly 30 injured after overnight Russian ballistic missile strikes targeted multiple districts across Kyiv.
At least nine people, including four children, were killed and up to 29 others injured following overnight Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv, according to local authorities and emergency services.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the attack, which began around 1:33 a.m. Saturday, triggered fires and widespread structural damage across at least five districts. Witnesses described hearing more than ten consecutive explosions. In the Solomjanskyi district, debris struck a residential building, trapping several occupants before rescue crews responded. At least 17 injured residents were hospitalized.
Ukrainian officials noted that air defense systems face severe challenges intercepting ballistic missiles. Additionally, Lithuania's Foreign Ministry confirmed its embassy in Kyiv sustained structural damage, though no personnel were injured.
