US and Israel pause military strikes on Iran as diplomatic talks progress
The US and Israel have paused planned military strikes on Iran following requests from Tehran and regional partners, contingent on a rapid diplomatic agreement.
The United States and Israel have temporarily suspended scheduled military strikes against Iran, following requests from Tehran and neighboring Middle Eastern countries amid advancing diplomatic discussions. US President Donald Trump stated that the halt is contingent upon securing a swift agreement to permanently eliminate Iran's nuclear threat and immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump emphasized that American military forces remain fully equipped if talks stall, claiming the US holds "more ammunition than anyone else." The pause comes after the US military intercepted several Iranian ballistic missiles directed at American positions in the region.
Concurrently, Asian oil prices declined by over five percent as market expectations for a diplomatic resolution grew. Regional security efforts also intensified, with Saudi Arabia announcing a new coalition to safeguard Red Sea shipping lanes.
