Russian forces launched a coordinated overnight aerial attack across Ukraine, employing ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones to strike infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa, and Chernihiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the widespread assault targeted civilian infrastructure to cause maximum disruption. Emergency service crews worked through the night searching destroyed buildings and extinguishing fires amid widespread power outages. Ukrainian officials reported at least 12 to 13 fatalities and dozens of injuries across the impacted regions.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities indicated that discussions are underway regarding a potential prisoner exchange with Kyiv following recent Ukrainian strikes against Russian energy infrastructure.
