Portugal's minority administration survived a censure motion filed by Chega after opposition Socialists abstained in parliament.

Portugal's minority administration has survived a parliamentary censure motion introduced by the far-right Chega party following recent controversies involving the Internal Administration Ministry.

The measure failed after the ruling Democratic Alliance voted against it and the primary opposition Socialist Party abstained during Tuesday's three-hour debate. Chega argued that the executive lacked political authority and public trust, though the vote's outcome was expected given the positions of the larger parties.

Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro concluded the session by criticizing Chega for tabling a measure bound for defeat. Leitão Amaro stated that the electorate would render a "political judgment" on the party's tactics, while reiterating that the administration holds no "preferential partner" in parliament.
