Portugal's minority government criticized Chega and the Socialist Party following a failed censure vote, confirming it will continue negotiating legislation on a case-by-case basis.

Following the rejection of a parliamentary censure motion introduced by the far-right Chega party, Portugal's government criticized both Chega and the main opposition Socialist Party (PS).

Minister of the Presidency António Leitão Amaro criticized Chega for introducing a motion destined for failure, adding that the electorate would make a "political judgment" regarding the party's conduct. Leitão Amaro also rebuked the PS for choosing to abstain during the vote.

Despite the friction, Leitão Amaro affirmed that the minority cabinet will not alter its legislative approach. The administration plans to persist with case-by-case negotiations for passing legislation, maintaining that it has no "preferred partner" within parliament.
