Poland proposes joint Patriot missile production with the US and Ukraine amid Russian strikes in Kyiv, drone alerts in Romania, and political turmoil in Warsaw.

Poland has proposed a joint initiative with the United States and Ukraine to manufacture Patriot air defense missiles, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka announced during a visit to Washington. The defense initiative comes as regional security concerns remain heightened.

In neighboring Ukraine, officials reported Russian strikes targeting the Kyiv region with Onyx and ballistic missiles. Meanwhile, Romanian military radar detected Russian drones operating near the Ukrainian border overnight, prompting localized emergency alerts in Tulcea county.

Concurrently, Warsaw faces domestic political turmoil after approximately 30 lawmakers departed the main opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party. The exodus follows an internal rift between party leader Jarosław Kaczyński and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who is reportedly considering founding a new political movement.
