Poland advances air force modernisation through allied deals and drills
Poland progresses air modernisation through prospective A400M transport acquisitions, a regional Boeing Apache maintenance centre, and joint refuelling drills.
Poland continues expanding its air force readiness and military aviation infrastructure through multinational agreements and joint exercises. Following Warsaw’s participation in a letter of intent alongside six NATO allies to explore cooperative acquisition and operation of Airbus A400M Atlas transport planes, defence officials confirmed interest in utilising European Union funding tools to replace aging transport aircraft.
In domestic industrial developments, Polish state aviation contractor WZL-1 concluded an agreement with Boeing to create a regional service and maintenance facility in Łódź capable of supporting at least 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters.
Operational training also intensified as Polish F-16 multirole fighters recently carried out mid-air refuelling drills with a French Airbus A330 MRTT tanker, bolstering allied interoperability.
