Polish analysts caution that record military spending must be paired with institutional overhauls to ensure true operational readiness.

Polish defense experts and think tanks are urging comprehensive institutional reform to support Poland's unprecedented military expansion. With defense spending projected to reach 200.1 billion PLN—or 4.81 percent of gross domestic product—by 2026, Warsaw is acquiring major defense systems, including Abrams and K2 tanks, HIMARS launchers, and F-35 fighter jets.

However, policy analysts from organizations including Rozwój Plus and the Defence Institute argue that massive financial investments alone will not guarantee combat readiness. Reports highlight the need for structural updates in command systems, personnel management, mobilization speed, and procurement governance. Experts warn that without institutional overhauls, the armed forces risk strategic drift, stressing that defense spending must translate into a resilient force capable of deterring potential Russian aggression and enduring an initial strike.
