Former diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen expressed regret over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein as Norwegian prosecutors confirm ongoing international delays in their corruption probe.

Former Norwegian diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen has publicly expressed regret over his connection to late financier Jeffrey Epstein, stating, "Jeg beklager i dag dypt det forholdet jeg hadde til Epstein." Rød-Larsen added that he should have severed ties at an earlier stage.

Rød-Larsen and his wife, former ambassador Mona Juul, remain under investigation by Norway’s economic crime agency, Økokrim, on charges of complicity and gross corruption, respectively. Both deny any wrongdoing. First State Prosecutor Marianne Bender confirmed that the high-priority probe involves extensive international police cooperation, though progress is currently slowed by pending assistance requests sent to authorities in the United States.

Økokrim also rejected statements from defense attorney John Christian Elden that minimized the case's reach, insisting the investigation is significantly more comprehensive than suggested by the defense.
