Norwegian authorities expand corruption probe into former diplomats over Epstein ties

Økokrim confirms its corruption investigation into former diplomats Mona Juul and Terje Rød-Larsen remains extensive as US legal requests and local property inquiries continue.
Norway's economic crime authority, Økokrim, has stated that its corruption investigation involving former diplomats Mona Juul and Terje Rød-Larsen is more extensive than defense lawyers suggest. First State Prosecutor Marianne Bender confirmed that international cooperation, particularly pending legal assistance requests to United States authorities concerning late financier Jeffrey Epstein, has contributed to delays.
Juul faces charges of gross corruption, while Rød-Larsen is charged with complicity. Investigators are also examining an Oslo apartment connected to the couple. Addressing his historical connection to the financier, Rød-Larsen expressed regret over his association, stating, "Jeg beklager i dag dypt det forholdet jeg hadde til Epstein," and acknowledged he should have severed ties earlier. Both individuals deny criminal liability.
