Iran and Oman have agreed on geographical coordinates for a new shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, according to officials in Tehran.

Tehran and Muscat have reached an agreement in principle on new geographical coordinates for commercial shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian authorities. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that a joint statement is currently being finalized, provided that "certain third parties do not obstruct the process."

The bilateral negotiations took place without direct participation from the United States. The proposed maritime framework aims to establish updated transit lines through the strategic choke point, following previous interim arrangements governing commercial passage through the waterway.
