ICC member states vote to dismiss chief prosecutor Karim Khan

International Criminal Court member states have voted to remove chief prosecutor Karim Khan following allegations of sexual misconduct.
Member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have voted to permanently dismiss chief prosecutor Karim Khan following allegations of sexual misconduct. During a vote by the Assembly of States Parties, 82 of the 125 member nations supported removing the 56-year-old British lawyer from his position.
Khan, who became chief prosecutor in 2021, was suspended last month ahead of the decision. The dismissal follows an internal inquiry that determined Khan committed a "serious breach of duty and serious misconduct" involving a female colleague. Allegations against him first surfaced in 2024.
