German police shot and killed the suspect in a fatal vehicle attack at Berlin's Pride parade after a citywide manhunt.

German authorities have launched an investigation following a vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade on Saturday night. A white van was driven into a crowd near Tiergarten park, killing one woman and injuring 16 others.

Following an extensive manhunt across the capital, police shot and killed the suspect in the western borough of Spandau after he allegedly charged at officers with a knife. Law enforcement identified the suspect as Abdul Ballout, a 21-year-old German citizen of Lebanese descent.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as a suspected terrorist act, stating that "everything we are seeing here indicates that we are dealing with an Islamist attack." Investigators are continuing to examine the suspect's background and potential motives surrounding the incident.
