German authorities have identified a suspect and launched a citywide search after a van struck a crowd at Berlin's Pride festival, killing one and injuring 16.

German law enforcement agencies have intensified a citywide manhunt after a white transport van was driven into a crowd at Berlin's Christopher Street Day festival on Saturday evening, killing one woman and injuring 16 others.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that preliminary evidence indicates an intentional act, noting, "everything we are seeing here shows that we are dealing with an Islamist attack." Police reported that a suspect has been identified after abandoning the vehicle near Tiergarten park and fleeing on foot.

Local and federal officers are coordinating search operations across the capital. Event organizers halted the parade immediately following the incident, which occurred shortly before 22:00 local time.
