A vote recount in Berlin's Spandau district shifted a direct seat to the AfD, while polling shows Die Linke leading among young voters ahead of the state election.

A vote recount in Berlin's Spandau district revealed a transmission error, shifting a direct parliamentary seat from Christian Democratic Union candidate Bettina Meißner to Alternative for Germany's Tommy Tabor. The correction eliminated overhang mandates, reducing the Abgeordnetenhaus by five seats.

The correction coincides with shifting political dynamics ahead of the state election. Recent polling placed Die Linke in the lead at 22 percent, supported strongly by younger voters, while the CDU and AfD followed at 18 percent each. Meanwhile, turnout among voters with a migration background remains a key focus in districts like Neukölln. Notably, some young voters of Turkish origin have expressed interest in the AfD, citing concerns over public safety and economic stability despite lower general participation among migrant communities.
