Berlin Pride vehicle attack suspect shot dead by German police
German police have shot and killed the primary suspect in a fatal vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade that left one woman dead and 16 injured.
German police have shot and killed 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, the primary suspect behind a fatal vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade. Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese origin, was tracked down in the Spandau district following an intensive manhunt. Officers opened fire after he reportedly charged at them with a knife.
The attack occurred on Saturday evening near Tiergarten park, where a white van drove into parade attendees, killing one woman and injuring 16 other people. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as an "Islamist attack" as federal and local authorities continue to investigate Ballout's background and potential extremist connections.
