A transmission error in Berlin's Spandau district shifted a state parliament seat from the CDU to the AfD, shrinking the legislature by five seats amid changing voter trends.

Following an administrative vote transmission error in a Spandau constituency, a direct mandate in the Berlin state parliament has shifted from Bettina Meißner of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) to Tommy Tabor of the Alternative for Germany (AfD). The subsequent official recalculation of overhang seats resulted in shrinking the state legislature by five seats overall.

The technical correction occurs amidst broader shifts in voter dynamics across Berlin. Ahead of the election, polling indicated Die Linke leading at 22 percent, supported strongly by younger demographics. Meanwhile, reporting highlights lower overall election participation among voters with migration backgrounds, though some young voters of Turkish descent reported shifting support toward the AfD over concerns regarding public safety and economic stability.
