The US Supreme Court has temporarily permitted construction to resume on a $400 million White House ballroom while legal challenges continue.

The United States Supreme Court has allowed the temporary resumption of construction on a $400 million ballroom at the White House. A five-justice conservative majority granted a pause on a lower court injunction, which had halted the project following a legal challenge by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Chief Justice John Roberts issued the brief order, giving the high court additional time to evaluate the administration's appeal. The majority noted that the federal government maintains strong legal prospects in defeating the historic preservation group's lawsuit. However, the court emphasized that this interim decision does not represent a final ruling on the legal merits of the project, permitting work to proceed as legal proceedings advance.
