The US Supreme Court has permitted the temporary resumption of construction on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom project.

The United States Supreme Court has granted permission for President Donald Trump’s administration to temporarily resume construction on a $400 million White House ballroom. A five-justice conservative majority paused a lower court injunction prohibiting work at the site, finding that the federal government possesses strong legal prospects against a lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The historic preservation group sought to halt the project to protect the historical integrity of the White House grounds. Chief Justice John Roberts issued the brief order, which provides the high court additional time to review the administration's appeal. Justices emphasized that the interim decision does not constitute a final ruling on the merits of the case, allowing preliminary construction to continue as legal proceedings advance.
