Russian state bodies and political campaigns are expanding artificial intelligence integration for surveillance, parliamentary oversight, and election promotion.
Russian state bodies and political organizations are expanding their integration of artificial intelligence into public control, governance, and campaigning, alongside broader global experimentation with automated management.
Russia's Investigative Committee announced using biometric software to analyze large video archives for suspect identification, while Moscow's digital infrastructure now pairs consumer conveniences with nearly 300,000 surveillance cameras. In parliament, the ruling United Russia party proposed creating a dedicated digital development and AI committee to oversee areas including unmanned aerial vehicles and online marketplaces. Additionally, newly created social media accounts deployed AI-generated election reports supporting United Russia.
Outside state affairs, workplace automation trials demonstrated AI models executing employment decisions, including terminating a worker who missed multiple shifts during a retail simulation.
