US strikes military targets in Iran as Kyiv peace efforts take shape
US military forces struck Iranian military installations while US envoys prepare to visit Kyiv following talks between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.
US Central Command launched airstrikes against military command centers, missile facilities, and drone infrastructure in southern Iran following warnings of military action from US President Donald Trump.
The operation coincided with diplomatic developments regarding the war in Ukraine. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are planning their first trip to Kyiv to relaunch negotiations following a meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
On the battlefield, Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted 65 of 80 Russian attack and decoy drones launched overnight. In occupied Crimea, repeated Ukrainian drone strikes targeting energy infrastructure have caused severe power and water shortages, forcing local residents to rely on commercial generators to maintain basic services.
