Ukrainian forces advance near Kupiansk as Russian defense chief denies Zaporizhzhia gains

Ukrainian forces make gains near Kupiansk and Lyman, while Russia claims progress near Sumy and denies Ukrainian advances in Zaporizhzhia.
Active fighting continues across several sectors along the frontline in Ukraine. Ukrainian military units have reported progress on the right bank of the Oskil River north of Kupiansk. Additionally, officials expect to confirm Ukrainian control over up to 200 square kilometers in the Lyman area.
In the north, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed its forces captured several settlements on the approaches to Sumy. Conversely, in the southern Zaporizhzhia sector, Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov publicly refuted claims of Ukrainian progress, maintaining that defensive lines are intact. Overnight, strikes were also reported targeting ammunition storage sites in the Kyiv region.
