UK government prepares military assistance for Cairngorms wildfire
Scotland's First Minister requested UK military aid to assist over 500 firefighters battling a persistent wildfire in Cairngorms National Park.
Emergency response operations remain ongoing in Scotland's Cairngorms National Park, where a major wildfire has burned for nearly two weeks. Over 500 firefighters continue working to contain the spread of the blaze, which recently prompted local authorities to order the evacuation of Nethy Bridge.
Although residents in the Highland village have since been permitted to return home, Scotland's First Minister requested assistance from the UK government to support ground personnel. In response, British authorities confirmed that army personnel are prepared to deploy to the region if necessary to help control the situation.
