Scotland requests UK military aid as over 500 firefighters tackle a persistent wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park.

Scotland's First Minister has requested military assistance from the UK government to help combat a large wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park. The blaze has been burning for over ten days, prompting the deployment of more than 500 firefighters to contain the spread.

The wildfire previously forced the evacuation of residents from the Highland village of Nethy Bridge, sparking frustration among local community members. While authorities have since permitted evacuated residents to return to their homes, emergency operations remain active. The UK government confirmed its readiness to deploy army personnel to support ground efforts if necessary.
