A coalition of 25 US states has filed a lawsuit in the US Court of International Trade seeking to strike down new import tariffs imposed on 60 trading partners.

A coalition of 25 US states, primarily led by Democrats, has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over newly enacted import tariffs affecting approximately 60 trading partners, including the European Union.

The legal action, submitted to the US Court of International Trade in New York, seeks an immediate halt to tariffs ranging between 10% and 12.5%. The states argue that the executive branch exceeded its authority and is attempting to bypass a US Supreme Court decision from February that struck down previous duties.

The administration introduced the measures on July 24, citing concerns that targeted nations were failing to address goods produced through forced labor. The plaintiffs are asking judges to declare the tariffs unlawful and order full refunds for duties already collected.
