Rights groups in Turkey documented gender-based violence in August 2026, with media portals and advocacy groups reporting dozens of femicides and suspicious deaths.

Rights monitoring groups in Turkey have documented male violence and femicides recorded across the country during August 2026.

According to media tracking compiled by independent news portal Bianet, at least 25 women were killed and 71 others were injured by men in August. Meanwhile, data from the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, published by Turkish daily newspaper Cumhuriyet, recorded 22 femicides alongside 33 suspicious deaths of women over the same period.

The platform noted that over 55 percent of victims were killed inside their homes, primarily by husbands or acquaintances. Motives could not be identified in 16 of the cases. Differences in the reported figures stem from contrasting tracking methodologies between media monitoring and advocacy records.
