Rights groups and independent outlets in Turkey have released data on gender-based violence in August, while prosecutors in Siirt press charges in a 2024 murder case.

Rights groups and monitoring organizations in Turkey have published statistics detailing gender-based violence during August. The We Will Stop Femicide Platform documented 22 femicides and 33 suspicious deaths, reporting that 55 percent of the victims were murdered in their homes. Independent outlet Bianet recorded at least 25 women killed and 71 injured across the same period.

In southeastern Turkey, prosecutors in Siirt finalized an indictment against five suspects, including the victim's former spouse, concerning the 2024 disappearance and murder of a mother of four. Investigators used digital footprints, phone records, and vehicle tracking to build the case. Additionally, local authorities in Siirt are investigating the suspicious deaths of a 12-year-old boy and his father, both found dead in water.
