August statistics from rights organizations report dozens of femicides in Turkey, as prosecutors in Siirt indict five suspects over a 2024 murder case.

Newly released monitoring data highlights ongoing gender-based violence in Turkey during August, alongside updates on legal proceedings in Siirt province.

According to figures published by Cumhuriyet from the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, 22 women were killed and 33 died under suspicious circumstances in August, with over half murdered inside their homes. Meanwhile, independent outlet Bianet documented at least 25 women killed and 71 injured during the same month based on media reports.

In Siirt province, prosecutors completed an investigation into the 2024 murder of a mother of four. An indictment was filed against five suspects, including the victim's former husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law. Investigators utilized digital footprints, cell tower location data, and license plate tracking to construct the case. Local authorities in Siirt also continue to investigate the suspicious deaths of a 12-year-old boy and his father found in water.
