Turkish rights monitors reported dozens of femicides in August, while prosecutors in Siirt indicted five suspects in a two-year-old murder case.

Rights organizations in Turkey have released conflicting data regarding gender-based violence in August, while state prosecutors in Siirt completed an investigation into a 2024 homicide.

According to figures published by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform and reported by Cumhuriyet, 22 women were killed and 33 died under suspicious circumstances during August, with over half murdered in their homes. Independent monitoring by Bianet recorded at least 25 women killed and 71 injured over the same period based on media tracking.

Meanwhile, TRT Haber reported that prosecutors in Siirt filed an indictment against five suspects, including the victim's former husband and relatives, following a two-year investigation into the disappearance of a mother of four. Authorities relied on digital footprints, cell tower logs, and license plate tracking to secure the charges.
