Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to negotiate end to war before winter
U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine and Russia to negotiate an end to the war before winter following talks with leaders in Kyiv and Moscow.
U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine prior to winter.
Following a meeting with Zelensky and a telephone call with Putin, Trump stated that the Russian leader "wants a deal" and expressed optimism about reaching an agreement. Zelensky characterized his discussion with Trump as "positive and productive," noting on social media that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of stopping Russian aggression in the coming months.
International diplomatic focus remains centered on establishing a framework for negotiations before seasonal weather conditions affect military operations on the ground.
